Healthy School Road helps municipalities create better frameworks for children's transportation to and from school.

Sund Skolevej helps municipalities create better frameworks for children's transportation to and from school. We conduct surveys, screen the physical conditions around schools and organize activities that strengthen a healthy and safe traffic culture - with a focus on children who walk or cycle.

In practice, it is the family that decides how the child gets to school – whether it will be on foot, by bike, by car or by bus. That is why we take the family's everyday life, needs and experiences as a starting point when developing our efforts. The goal is clear: We want to make it easy, safe and attractive for more children to walk or cycle.

Many children move too little in their everyday lives, and here the school route holds great potential. Although many schools already have good conditions for cyclists and pedestrians, there is still room for improvement – both in the physical environment and in the way we work with traffic habits and culture.

We work with both the soft and hard sides of school transport. This means we look at everything from bike paths and crossing points to parents' choices and habits. It's about understanding what everyday life looks like – and how we can change it in a more active direction together.

Sund Skolevej was launched because it is important. We want to make a difference for children's health and safety – and we believe that it starts with knowledge. That is why we base our work on analyses, data and dialogue with municipalities and families.

Sund Skolevej was awarded the GF Foundation's Traffic Prize in 2021-2022.
